Energy data are an essential tool for the formulation of energy policies, the design of sectoral and other strategies and for the evaluation of the contribution that the sector provides to the economic and social development of the countries. However, inadequacies linked to scope and level of basic energy data currently constitute a significant challenge to effective energy sector planning, and strategy formulation at the regional level in Caribbean Community (CARICOM). This is exacerbated by inconsistencies and lack of timeliness in availability of data.
