Posted in: Documents | 25 August 2014The Caribbean Community, hereafter referred to as CARICOM, came into being on 1973, July 04, with the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas as the successor to the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). CARICOM was expected to extend the free trade area that had obtained in CARIFTA to include the free movement of labour and capital and the coordination of agricultural, industrial and foreign policies. The Common Market is an integral platform of CARICOM.
