Objectives

Agreement provides for the establishment of a West Indies Shipping Corporation, to operate and maintain an orderly, adequate, regular and efficient intra-regional merchant shipping service to and from participating States, and to operate and maintain merchant shipping service to non-participating States within and outside the Caribbean.

Resolution /Withdrawal:

Agreement provides for the establishment of a West Indies Shipping Corporation, to operate and maintain an orderly, adequate, regular and efficient intra-regional merchant shipping service to and from participating States, and to operate and maintain merchant shipping service to non-participating States within and outside the Caribbean.

Entry into Force:

This Agreement entered into force in accordance with Article 44 the said agreement which provides that it shall enter into force upon the deposit of Instruments of Ratification by four (4) or more countries mentioned in paragraph 1 of the Annex, which have subscribed to at least 90 per cent of the initial issue of share capital in accordance with Article 8. Entered into force on April 30, 1976.
